mig 29 jepe fast foam scale mods

hi there , got some time to spend for another build(and because weather is really crap for the moment to attempt flying) , jepe mig 29!!
the plan is to get this fulcrum as scale as i can get with this frame ,or closest
will run this on twin 90mm and 700-68-2100kv 6s to stay light and easy to use
don't want a fast one here, just something powered enough to move well

so because pics are better than words
here are the first pics...

first are ailerons and flaps
put some fiber hinges on ailerons and rods on flaps
balsa trailing edge and soon carbon rod on leading edge

by the way here's also another mig i build for a well known workshop here in europe
JEPE fast foam
this one will not fly but just be stuck on his workshop window so everything is glued fixed with no electronic in it

was a pain in the aaaaaa.....sss to do
i plan to do it on mine too ... hmmm

some update here....

wings are done , servo's in pace and hidden with balsa plate
u may notice the servo' wire is next to it on its complete lenght
this is to prevent cutting the whole wing to replace an eventually dead servo ,the cut to replace will be pretty small , so not much work to hide it again then...

flap are in pretty good shape ,with some graupner hinges

retracts are already in place, those are old ones from my old stock and come from jepe (think same as hk but bigger hole /6mm)

template in the cockpit in place
top of fuselage already received on coat of epoxy HT-2 and 25gr fiberglass
this combination is really strong!!much better than fiber/PU

stabs are also ready fibered and reinforced with carbon rod on leading edge
and balsa trailing edge...carbon rod purpose is the avoid scratch or dents during transports, and it make them stronger anyway

tails are modified to look like the real deal ..
also some carbon rods to make them "unscratchable"

bottom duct part is already fiberglassed too
and sanded at the good shape ( at least thinner!!)then double glassed on edges

same deal for leading edge wings, carbon there

i've shape the LE thinner , the stock one is soooooooo thick!!

and finally glue wings in place ( yes ,those won't be removable, i have a big car )

carbon key is just glued in place with 15min epoxy , then, another layer of epoxy/micro ballon mixture to fill up the big hole
and finally some lightweight renoband for a smooth finish (still need to sand it )

u can see the nice housing i did for the carbon key with airtool and metal grinder ( i am an old'car builder by the way ...)easy and fast !

that's where i am so far on 3 days work

the final scheme should be the same as the one i do for fast foam workshop , pixel camo

as the last picture

so....i feel like talkin' to myself
but ok ... here's some more pics
i only got time to put light weight filler on wings today
others stuff like landing gear , motor and jet fan 90mm ,maybe try to mod the jet fan housing to put vasa rotor ( a bit bigger)

also plan to put much thicker rod into stabs , with brass tube to guide them on plastic brackets...
if anyone has some other good idea to get those stabs strong???

Gianni,

It is looking good.

I love full moving stabs but just dont have a lot of faith in them. I fixed my stabs on the Mig and cut in moving surfaces to have a strong setup. If you are going full scale, this will not be an option, but I hate spending time on a jet and losing it on something like this.....

The Mig does fly really well and you will enjoy her.

finally found myself a way to get stabs works nice and strong enough to avoid "flueting"(don't know the exact words for it)

i glued a carbon rod into de stab and slip it into a brass tube witch is at the perfect size to get a tight movement

this brass tube is itself glues in the stock( but drilled )stab bracket
some screw or washer will avoid the rod to slip out the tube

don't have more time to spend on this build for the moment but i will keep on posting
here's pics

Looking good. I would just reconsider the colour scheme. Think that the visibility could be an issue.

Thanks Graham! But i Think this is the price to pay to get this one not boring
And don t worry buddy i have some pretty efficient eyes!!

Those struts Come from jet power this year but i m pretty sure they come
From hk!

The yellow parts come from the tetris f-15 i bought at bukvorez. Ru, but i'm sure u already know it as u build yourself the mig 29 ( by the way nice and clever build!)
I Will create ā new thread soon for this f 15!!
