There are two new micro digital servos from futaba. They are S3154 and S3153
Spec. is impressive and could be one of best solutions for tail of micro/mini with GY401 in DS mode.
Seems they are already available in Japan.

Torque :1.5kg(4.8V)、1.7kg(6.0V)

Hehe, the specs for 4.8v are identical to the S3110 specs (torque, speed, dimensions, only difference is 0.1gr of weight).

I guess they finally got around to making a drop in digi board (I've been running an HDS877 control board in a S3110 for a while now ).

What I want to know is why futaba seems to refuse to make some real servo horns for these tiny servos. I've found that you can't use 3110's on the swash simply because the horn flexes so much introducing slop at the servo.

Use hitec HS50/55 strong horns, or Dubro XXL horns, both are much more rigid than the futaba ones.

Two Numbers One set of Specs?

Why are there two numbers FUTABA. S3154 and 3153 and one picture and one set of specifications? Does Futaba have a system where the numbers actually mean something? and I just don't know what it is.

What is the difference?

Just Curious.

I just did some investigating and can not find specs for the 3153 but I found a price list and the 3153 is more expensive than the 3154?

Ok I did some more looking and the size of both is apparently the same but the 3153 looks to be more robust and is 1.4g heavier but lower torque and speed? The price list I found was from Japan and they have the list price at Y4360 for the 3153 and Y3308 for the 3154. http://www.futaba.com.au/browse.asp?ContainerID=1645

Street price in japan for s3154 is around $27. S3153 has beargins so is more heavier and expensive.
FUTABA designed these servos GY401 in mind in 400 class helis.

Hi Reefer,

I'm residing in HK and I just brought the S3154 from Radar. The S3153 is not yet seen so far. The S3154 is selling at somewhere below $25. In view of their size which is similar to the S3110, I suppose the S3153/S3154 is just marginal for 400 size heli like the T-Rex.

DWKN: The torque and speed look OK even at 4.8v. Why would the 3154 be marginal for the tail on a Trex SE - assuming of course you have no binding?

I found a shop in Asia that will be sending me some stuff that has the S3154s. Is there interest in me picking up a few extras to sell here? Not a huge bunch, but a few.

Does anyone have any idea on when the 3153 will hit the US? Great Planes has the 3154 now but I'm looking to put the 3153 all the way around on my trex SE . That will be sweet.
