Question
slimline pitts muffler/.46FX less power??

So I have been planning on running a slimline pitts on my OS 46. I did this and have noticed a decrease in RPM, throttle response....etc etc. Nothing really bad....it just doesn't have the punch it used to. Now..the question!

Does the addition of this new exhaust system decrease the pressure being fed to the tank from the nipple on the muffler?? I think so.....I"ve heard of pitts causing the engine to run lean b/c of this. And would this be causing this loss of power and such, that I describe?

PS...I did readjust both needles after installation...

Most times the backpressure will be less with a pitts muffler, my friend had one on his magnum .46xls and we ended up plugging one of the holes to get the best performance.

Did y'all experience the slimline Pitts making your fx run hotter? I did adjust my needle valves but it seemed to run hotter with the Pitts vs the stock muffler.

Most Pitts type mufflers are detrimental to performance.
You are either victimized by too small a volume, or by too large an outlet cross-section.

In any case you get less power from your engine... unless you get a TurboJett...

Yes, it's expensive, but nothing's free in the real world.

The size and shape of the exhaust influences a 2 stroke.
