Question
Step Down Regulator and LC-Filter All in ONE?

Just wanted to know,
Is there a StepDown Regulator with Built in LC filter?

I want to use "one Lipo setup"....

I have 4s-5000mah Flight Lip and want to power RC and 12v VidTx/12v Camera.

I'll use the ESC power leads to tap the 16volt from the 4s Lipo....
Thanks

ok thanks NutBag....

I also wanted to know, if I do get two separate LC filter and 12 step Down regulator,
can I line them up (solder in parallel) one after the other? the ESC connector will
have these two plus I'm tapping that ESC connector with the CC BEC.

So 3 items soldered (tap) onto the ESC power wire....is that a lot?

There ought to be a good, rf-quiet filter, sepic type power supply (up-down) with L-C, but there is not.
The whole point is to take the power off the battery direct.
For each power supply, wire the power supply off a power tap, like the Dean plug tap. The L-C filter is wired from the power supply output, downstream of the power supply. The load goes next, off the "out" terminals of the L-C. So actually there's only the power supply(s) directly off the tap.

My 12v. load, on a full-house Eagle tree setup and 3s pack, is 0.9 amp, with four sensors, 1000 Mw lawmate tx and a 600 tvl camera.
Add up yours, then add a safety margin.

Range video sells linear regulator that works great with step down from 4 cell battery

No need for filter and only cost 10 $

Heat sink and proper cooling is good

Amp draw should be within specs
Correct antenna will bring down amp draw and make video best
Antenna best at tuned frequency to work and function best
This alows for lowest amp usage but also clearest video

Draw or take video power from balance lead rather from other wires for good video

Thanks David22 for your input.

I will take the power off the 4s Lipo "balance leads", but the connectors seems flimsy.
(do you have a LINK on were to get those connectors?).

Also, the once I use the RangeVideo Step Down Regulator,...I won't need a LC-filter
because it already has great filters in it?.... Thank You....

~15ve In and 12ve out? how come there is 3 pins for Output?

The Core from TBS. Have 2 of them work awesome. You do need soldering skills

Can I disable that OSD function on it?
What was the point of the CORE? to have "Regulator" and very basic OSD screen
for ~$80 without shipping

Range Video Step Up Regulator ~$10
HobbyKing SimpleOSD ~$15

Same function as the CORE?

Yes built in OSD can be disabled or ignored.

No. Perhaps you should read the description again. It's not just a step up (or just step down)
regulator. It's an any2any, and it has two outputs, each with their own selectable voltage.
It also has a failover to backup battery in case the main pack is drawn down dead, offering
true dual redundancy rather than the more usual two single points of failure
that people create when they use one battery for power system, and another for FPV side.

Ok, I see....but How is that CORE connected/tapped onto the ESC power wires (4s Lipo)?

It just shows' the CORE is inbetween the Camera and VidTx?

So, if I connect the VidTx power wires to the ESC (tap) connector, it will filter out the noise to the camera?

That's up to you. Most folks add (solder in) a couple wires behind their main power plug.
I always put a female servo connector on those, and my FPV harness starts with a male
servo plug and the wires from that head into my voltage regulator.

If you use 4 cell battery you only need step down

Step up and down regulator is good for 3 cell main battery

David22,

ok, I will just get that Step Down Regulator from RangeVideo....
I'm using 4s flight lipo (one battery setup)...simple!

Just know that with a linear regulator, you're throwing away the difference in voltage
as heat. So if your FPV gear draws say.. 750mA * 12V = 9W, then the regulator is generating
roughly 3W of heat.

BTW, the reason an any2any regulator is useful for the TBS Core is that you don't have
to use the same type of battery for the backup. Flight pack can be 4S, and the backup
battery a little 2S and it'll still deliver rated voltage on all outputs.
