60 Km Round Trip !!

I went today to 30 248 m, 60 km round trip, with my Phoenix Evolution 260 m.

I wanted to test my new Circular Polarization antennas, the IBCrazy Cloverleaf and the Helical, because there is a mith that Circular Polarization is not about Long Range, it's about better video in Short-Medium Range. And I think that with this test, the mith must be definitely over.

I had a better video than ever before, and I have done lot's of flights of +20 km with almost every known antenna of lineal polarization. The video was complitely perfect all the time, and when I say perfect, I mean like if I was at 100 metters only. Also when turning, and when I was passing over a place with lot's of interferences at 20 km from my flying field.

I used in my plane a 3536 920 rpm motor from RCTimer (great motor), a 12x5 propeller, 2 x 5 Amp 4S batteries, 1,5 W 1.2 Ghz Transmitter with a Cloverleaf, a 2 Grs camera, and Of course my Dragon Link Receptor.

The plane Phoenix Evolution 2,6 m

In ground a 15,5 turn Helical antena for video reception, and the DL transmiter with the standard antenna.

I was not flying from the top of a mountain, I was at sea level, with lots of trees near the flying field, and in a zone where we had lot's of interferences coming from irrigation systems that transmit in 433 mhz, and lot's of wifi signals coming from big antennas.

I made some still images from the TV screen, because I don't have a recorder yet (I have had 3, and all of them are broken now, still waiting for a really good recorder. I am open to recomendations.)

Attached the images.

1 meter long, it looks largest than it is because of the perspective

Crist, you may go on making your records now. I asked you to stop making records until I had went to 30 km . So, now you can begin to prepare your next record, because soon I will be going further than 35 km.

Thank you for waiting for me

I will take more pictures of my helical, but I supose you are aware about the thread dedicated exclusively to helical antennas and a tutorial made by IBCrazy on how to made one:

http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...377791&page=33

Anyway, here, more pictures, but the explanation of how to make it in Spanish.

its hard to see the osd screen in your pics, looking at the time it looks like you flew back 30km in a matter of less than 22 min?

No, in fact the good thing today was the low wind to go and to come back. It was 40 min to go and 1,22 total, so 32 minutes to come back.

Thank you Mike.

Yes the antenna is big, but not as much as it looks in the picture, it's a 1 meter long antenna. And works great, better than any antenna I had try before, and I have tried almost all the possible antennas. (biquad, double biquad, stacked biquad, double stacked biquad, patch, yagui and six quads modified 16,7 dbi antenna ).
