Great Planes 1/4 RV-4

Anyone put one of these together yet? Looks like a perfect model to go electric.

In looking at the manual, it gives instructions and setup for electric.

I've been eyeballing this one too, I think it is a really good canidate for electric flight. Too many to build as is, and I can't get parts to build the ones I have now ......which is frustrating the heck out of me !!

Anyone seen a better price than $279 at Tower? I have a feeling an RV-4 will be arriving at my house in the near future.

So, has anyone actually done one of these in electric yet?

Looking at the weight, I am wondering if the recommended 6s setup is enough for decent performance.

I am wondering if the recommended motor gets anywhere the 1480 watts it is spec'd for. An Axi 4130-16 on 6s and a 17x8 e-prop gets around 1150.

Wings all done - ailerons, flaps, servos, linkages, low and high rates, and exponential.

Stabilizer and fin installed. Main and tail landing gear installed.

Overall, a nice kit and good value.

I'm now thinking about how to install an E-Flite 60 motor: commercial motor mount or home-made plywood-box motor mount.

Kept It Simple (Stupid).

KISS principle.

Bolts, nuts and spacers.

I also found an adapter to use the aluminum spinner with the E-Flite prop adapter.

Speed control and all wiring installed.

This is a beautiful kit: exceptionally well built, superb cowl, sturdy landing gear, removable top, and expertly covered.

Rudder and elevator servos and linkages installed. I used 2 servos for the elevator, 1 for each half, and heavy-duty push-rod connectors.

1/4 scale pilot, dash and canopy installed.

This is a very straight forward, well engineered kit. The fact that the fuselage-top comes off makes this perfect for changing / charging batteries.

I'm really taking my time; I want to drag this out as long as I can.

Cowl installation is next.
