Framing in Solidworks

Hi all Solidworks users,

What is the best/quickest way to go from 3D model to framing for laser cutting and construction

Let say from the attached photo to this http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/attac...mentid=2985148

I'm not an solidworks guru, not an engineer(learned basics by my self, so i may be totally wrong), so in first model I've done it in these steps:
1) created reference plane, where i wanted balsa part to appear
2) used sketch->intersection curve to get initial curve to work with and then manually added missing details, like interlocking, holes for stringers, etc.
3) extruded sketch that I've got in step 2 to desired wood thickness.

It's a lot of manual work, especially if you do a lot of interlocking, but i could not find a better way.
From other side, if you choose clever reference planes and use clever helping construction lines, it's not that hard.

I've tried another approach, like make a loft of a part and then make part like
in picture attached and then subtracted it from initial loft, but as long as final result must go to laser cutting, it looked to me not very suitable.

Well, you need the 3D solidworks part to start with?
Available?
