Just a curious question.

Ask anybody had any success/experience with attaching a flatter wing on their champ and adding ailerons, flaps and lights?

I am thinking about attaching the UMX eflite carbon cub wing to the champ and having the features of flaps, ailerons and lights. Anybody try this before?

What do you think?
Would anybody be interested to see it if I tried it soon?

Thanks

I would think you would have to rip out the 3ch brick. Install a new motor, Rx, esc, all a bunch of weight. Plus 3 servos? Could be pretty heavy?

We can't control what others do, but we can certainly control what we do. I think it will be a good beginning if we start referring to them as quad helicopters.

Well .... the tail usually has be sized in relation to the size of the wing. If you used the Carbon Cub wing, the Champ tail would be too small, so you should change the tail out also.

If you do change out the tail, it would probably sit a little too close to the wing. It would be better if you got your hands on a slightly longer fuselage to mount the wing and the tail on. The fuselage from the Carbon Cub would probably work ok with that wing and tail combination.

Of course, if you do that, you should probably upgrade to a brushless motor, and then you'd be all set.

Champ attacked while cruising the 'hood

I love it when birdies come out to play, in this case swallows are the playmates. They go after me nearly every time I get airborne.

A fairly short video...swallow makes a pass at about 37 sec. When carrying the cam on the belly I always land in the grass.

Nice!

I had a similar experience about a week ago. I was doing my morning flight at a local football field with my UMX P-51D and a flock of pigeons started pacing me. There was a woman walking by who started laughing and asked me if I could "lose them". I did a couple loops and a hammerhead and every time the pigeons would circle back and join up again--almost like an escort. It went on for about a minute and a half until low battery brought me in.

Anyone who says birds don't have fun wasn't watching that AM! Not sure but maybe they were having more fun than me!

@BluteSky, I had to giggle a bit at your post. I was flying at a ballpark and the same happened to me. A flock of pigeons followed my Champ around the park about 3 times. Nobody was there to witness it
