Can't run two Hackers off one controller?

I am trying to run two B40-15S Off one Hacker Master 70-3P. The leads from the controller to the motors are of equal length and about 6 inches long. I am using the same connectors between motor and controller as are used on FUN 400 motors. They both start successfully about 1 in 10 times. With no props they start up OK. I am using an 8 cell RC2400 pack. My friend is running two FUN 400-23 off a 50amp Kontronik controller(without BEC). Any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds typical. I tried running two Jeti 15-4s each with a Jeti 30 amp controller off of one battery and had unreliable startups. If you nose around, most folks who report running two brushless motors off of one controller have problems- except for the guys running twinjets with very short leads and the right motor/controller combination.

P.S. I'd be very leary about running a motor without a prop- you might get an overspeed- but I'm not sure.

It is not really a issue of lead length but, one of the controller, motor and prop. Fact is that the Kontronik 3SL controllers will run most twin setups and Schulze and Jeti will not. I have had 2 twins with brushless and a single controller. Large heavy props(APC gas) are much harder to get started. Low turn high RPM motors are harder to get started. I have had good luck with the Kontronik controller running 2 Aveox 1406/4 and with 2 Aveox 1005/4 motors.
