Thanks. I am still working on the landings. I bounce them pretty bad. I need to use more throttle. Maybe even use the flaps. But the ground handling is superb. Zero chance of nosing over.

Some work in progress:-

When I first picked up the kit it was Jubilee year so she was always going to end up as Princess 'Liz .

A bit of retouching to do where the masking tape took some silver and primer off - but I'll leave that until I've got the whole thing together.

Better late than never.....!

Edited to add another pic

Nearly there......

More or less complete.......
Just decals to go.

Drop tanks are just for static display at the moment as I'm using a 6 ch rx (AR636 - AS3X set up with 30% gain all round for starters).

Unfortunately the gear doors won't sit flush with the gear up (VQ struts) - I'm not going to start hacking into the wings to solve that just yet. So they're going to be left off before they fall off!

Thanks for the compliment......unfortunately not quite enough talent to get the most critical decal in the right place 😕.

Messed up the "Princess Elizabeth" and have to get a replacement ......

Looks ok from about 30' away perhaps 😄

Anyhow....hopefully maiden her tomorrow starting with a 13/6.5 prop and will take a 14/7 along to try out too and see which works best....this thread is so long I couldn't really remember what the consensus was!

Paint Scheme

BB,
Great job on the redo of the color scheme. I would love to do that to mine but just don't want to spend the time to do it. I am going to add a RED nose (like your blue), add invasion stripes and add a tail retract.

Good luck on your maiden.

+1.....very nice job....and probably a lot easier to track in the air with the 352nd color scheme.

I had been planning to do up my plane as a "Dambuster" squadron Mustang III. However... Recently learned that the first Mustang aerial victory was credited to an RCAF Mustang I. So that has me thinking. Anyone know where I could get an alternate cowl for an Allison-powered Mustang?

It's probably very doubtful you could find an Allison cowl but it shouldn't be too hard to modify the stock cowl....

Maiden....

Maiden went very well. Just had time for one flight yesterday afternoon, and managed three this morning. She flies very nicely, carrying momentum in quite a scale like manner. It was a bit thermally and gusty so not quite sure yet what to think about low speed handling - I'll need a flat calm morning to get a better idea and a few more flights to get the landings finessed.
Overall... I like her very much...

Thanks for that, Capt! Still haven't decided if I'll go that way or stick itch the original plan. Not in any hurry, it will be a winter project at the earliest.

Control surface deflection

For those of you who are currently flying this model, are the recommended throws for the elevator (1/2 inch HI and 3/8 inch LO) adequate for handling at high and low speed flight?

I can only get a little over 1/2 maximum throw.
