Question
Question (Batteries and Throttle curve) align trex v2

I have recently started flying a Trex 450 se v2 ( the real v2)

I have a lot of less expensive lipos and of course the 20-22C that comes with the V2. Wow the performance diff is huge! Anyways I have actually had to adjust throttle curves acording to the battery. Just for hover and that type of flight. (I am still learning) That did not make sense to me until I realized that the V2 ESC did not ship defualted to Governer mode. I beleive if I put it in Govener mode that the Throttle curves should be common between the good and cheap batteries.

Is there a reason that Align does not defualt the ESC to Govener mode?
Is there any reason that I should not change it to Govener mode?

I fly a Revo (shogun clone) with a CC25 in govener mode and have had no issues at all.

Thanks for the input you post

Why (or how) would the battery affect your throttle curve? I ask as a novice myself

first off if your running the XL motor from the v2 kit you will need higher end batteries... The 22c that comes with the kit is great if your using a 11t or 12t pinion... Forgot about it if your using a 13t.. you will need TP's or EV's.

Regarding aligns esc gov function... they dont work that well! Some have no problems some do. I cant seem to get them to work without racing with the gyro (high speed tail wag).

I use a 12t with the following thr curve:
100-95-90-95-100

Since his older lower-end batts dont give the same power as his align 22c. So his batteries are pretty much changing the thr curve, if that makes any sense

Due to voltage drop the head speed changes unless you use Governer mode.

I am using the smallest pinion that came in the kit, (I think it is 11 tooth).

Before I say this I thought the govener mode was enabled

My throttle curve was 0,60,60,60,60 (headspeed was 2400 align battery)
My throttle curve was 0,70,70,70,70 (headspeed was 2200ish with 12C-016C batteries) 100,95,90,95,100

If I used the 0,60,60,60,60 with the cheap batteries, The climb was almost non existant. To the point I was afraid if I decended to fast I would not be able to stop before I hit ground.

When I look at above throttle curve 100,95,90,95,100 I got to wonder what headspeed does that give you..... Wow got to be a big diff from the 60 that I am running.

Of course I wanted longer flight and less damage if a screw up so I am happy with the 60% throttle right now.

FYI. As Highflier loosely implied, governor mode does not like throttle curves. it like flat throttle 'levels'. Normal can be like 0-70-70-70-70. But Idle 1 and 2 should be flat if you are using governor mode. Like 100-100-100-100-100. If you want a curve, do not run Governor mode.

I had it is governor mode with curves before I knew this and when I went to mid throttle and then back up it would not spin back up to full speed. I finally figured it out though...
