900AAU, N-3US or 1100AAU cells for Adrenalin?

After hearing about the great results people have had with the N-3US and 1100AAU cells in Stingers Id like to try some in my Adrenalins. An electronics distributor has a sale on the discontinued 900AAU cells which are 4/5 AA cells. The 900AAU are a lot cheaper than the others (the N-3US and 1100AAU cost 50% more) and are lighter, they weigh 20g according to specs. What Im afraid of are their age, dont know how that effects them though...

Give me some ideas, I want a lighter Adrenalin with longer flights and these cells seem to be it (have been flying with 7x700AR).

I have been using some 4 yr. old 1400ae cells in my fun fly planes and they perform well. Do you have a date code to go by ?

20 grams for a 900aau sounds really good. I would definitely try some if I could find them !

Yeah Im temped to try some KR-900AAU. The weight wouldnt be much higher compared to the 7x500AR (greenies) pack but the duration should be MUCH better.

N-3 US and 1100 AAU

Tested these a lot and conclusion is clear: in a Stinger N-3US cells are the best value in terms of discharge curve ,price and duration. 6 minutes full power, even 7. The cells deliver more power than the s400 can can handle without burning..so if you fly the whole pack full power, expect short motor life. Now we can fly the 4 min competitions without less power in the final laps. Weight increase is about 30 g...nothing in Adrenalin with lots of wing area, compare with Stinger!

I still think the 900AAU looks interesting at 20 grams. The weight increase would be a mere 10g. In a Stinger they should be great (if they handle the current).

I heard Petri Nygren is testing some 950AAUL. Heard any results from him?

not yet

..but once again, the N-3US is almost 50 % cheaper than 1100 AAU and weights about 22 g, I recall this right. Adrenaline is so generous in terms of wing area, that Id suggest getting the most powerful cell and then worry about the weight. It serves you not if the old 900:s give half the rpm compared to the N-3US and the the plane is 10 g lighter...the 700:s are hands down to N-3US.

Anyone know of any US suppliers of N-3US cells?? I'm finding lots of Scandinavian suppliers, but none in the USA...

TIA,

Where?

Hmm. first, the cell was designed to walkmans and etc, so it should not be very difficult to find. You can order them at least from Hollein in Germany. www.hoellein.com should cost about $2 a piece. Charge at max. 1.5 A.
