Nice result Marcus, the current draw makes it an "affordable" option for speedflyers!

I have a question for the prop guys here. If you have a twisted yoke like a +2.5 or +5 what does that increase the pitch of a prop to, as I understand it the twist in the yoke is a measurement in degrees where pitch in a prop isnt. Lets say a 2.5 yoke on a 10 pitch prop.

can someone explain it?

Thanks

Hey Dave! Hows that single blade coming along?

A +2.5º hub is equivalent to 1" of pitch,5º is equivalent to 2" of pitch.

10" pitch prop on a 2.5º hub is 11" of pitch...

Not exacty Craig! The pitch distribution of the blade needs to be taken into account. On average 1" is approx 2.5 deg, but not always

It also depends on prop diameter. Here is an excel spreadsheet to calculate http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showp...97&postcount=8

thanks all, that will get me in the ballpark, doesn't need to be exact.

B, no single blade prop for me, just making plugs to try stuff.... I am having a real hard time with this F5D stuff and am jumping all over the place. I cant afford to do all the testing and different motors, esc's, props and fancy cnc molds and then there is the problem that all the comps and WCs are usually in Europe which is even more expensive it has me VERY close to chucking it all and going to play with gliders, at least there are a lot of comps around here for that.

No you are wrong. Get the GM for $75, fly it a hand full of times then sell it for €179 when you broke a blade off

I hear you Dave-exactly the same in N.Z.
Went to a pylon meet 2 weeks ago-there was x2 electric's,the rest were greasy Quickee 500's.

Glider scenes semi-decent,most probably cause we have Joe Wurts pushing things along, with a few more new classes being introduced as well...

Hi Dave
Leave the e.gliders for the coffin dodgers.
Just remember, you can still get a podium at a WChmps with "off the shelf" stuff - no need to develop a thing. Just buy and fly. Pylon is mostly about the flying skill and less so technology. The stuff you have made is really cool! Just wish I was local to you.

As for comps.... someone needs to organise it! "Build it, and they will come"?

I used to race for years. I stopped because it turned into a technology competition. Each season you had to buy the newest, greatest and most expensive stuff or don't bother coming out... Became too expensive to race.. Went from K&B's to Super Tigre's to Nelsons and Jett's, then MB's.. Wood to composites, Brushed to brushless, hacker to Neu... Becomes a rich man's sport before you realized what happened. I like going fast and flying comp models, but I haven't raced since '04. Couldn't afford to keep up.

For my RC conbat days, it was the mad points race too, so traval was a must for keeping at least in the top ten with many backup planes and parts for 3 classes of flying.

The Nelsons and Jett's was also way to much in case we got into mid-airs. So it was mostly OS 25 FX's with badder tanks and moose can muffliers!

High performance comes with a big price tag unfortunately... It is what it is. Oh well.
