JR R790 ScanSelect PCM Receiver

I purchased a JR R790 7-Channel ScanSelect PCM Receiver today and I attempted to program it to my JR X-347 transmitter, on channel 18 (72.150). After following the receiver programming directions the receiver just blinked and never locked on to my transmitter. I checked and the transmitter was in PCM mode. The instructions say that the receiver is compatible with all JR transmitters. Is the receiver defective?

IIRC, the 347 could do both ZPCM and SPCM.
Make sure you are in SCPM.

Do you think the LHS will take it back. It was out of the package for 10 minutes. Any change in range or performance from PCM to FM. Is there an aftermarket receiver available for the 347 in PCM.

You might be right.
First one I had was the 388, and it did do both ZPCM and SPCM.

JR FM receivers are very good.
You can get some of the similar benefits of PCM with a DSP receiver such as the Castle Berg units.
There are no after market PCM rcvrs. The codes used are proprietary.

If the LHS won't take back the 790, either try to sell it on here or look at upgrading your transmitter.

Do you still use the 347? Ever have to change the back up battery?
I was using my 388 until last year, some models on it and others on my 8103 and an 8103DT.
Now all are on a 9303, which is a great radio.
I loaned the 388 to a buddy just getting into R/C.

I think ZPCM was only 9 bits, unlike 10 bits for SPCM.
So FM will actually have slightly better resolution than ZPCM.

I tried the receiver with my 662 transmitter and it locked into the frequency. So just like eveyone is saying the 347 must have an old version. I hate to retire the 347 it's like that old comfortable shirt you can't part with.

Pat,
I sent my 347 to Horizon for a checkup a couple years ago any they changed the battery.
