Any guitar players here in the basement ?

In the early 60s I took one hour lessons every week, for 5 years .Always wanted to play by ear but never could. Some are born with that talent,I wasn't .
Last week I bought a 1960s electric guitar and Amp.just for the hell of it.
In the last week I think I learned more than 5 years of lessons.
Thanks to this site and this guy
Enjoy !

Good to hear that you're enjoying playing and learning again.

First started playing guitar in my teens, but didn't really get any better at it in all the years since being a student. Despite having loads of fun with the instrument in those early days i never had any significant talent, or got very far beyond the basics.

Didn't play much for a number of years, but still had guitars around the place, so, when my boy came along he quickly took up the guitar and had lessons. He became a decent guitarist (and multi-instrumentalist) and I packed in, pretty much apart from an occasional jam.

Just a month or so ago I found the particular guitar that I had always wanted, right from the beginning and after parting with some ackers, I picked up a guitar for the first time in ages and could barely get a tune out of it.

Second session was a little better and I ordered a bunch of tab and backing tracks to realise a modest ambition of playing better blues guitar. No sign pf that happening yet though.

I like strumming a few chords now and then, not very good, but I enjoy myself.

The three string box I got a while back has been played a lot, again not very well ,but I have fun.

Well, you taught me a few riffs a little while back, which was great

Those cigar box guitars look like a lot of fun. There's a chap just up the road from here makes them to order.

Dude that is great you are giving it another try. Many people become frustrated when they don't sound like BB King right away and give up. Practice everyday and you will be surprised how quickly you will be playing stuff you are proud of. Play with some type of metronome. It will teach you to stay in time. I like electronic drum machines but there are all kinds of stuff that will do the job.

I have been a bass player all my life, still have four of them. But I do have two six string electric guitars, a set of drums and a few keyboards lying around.

Played a Fender Geddy Jazz at Guitar Center the other day. Man, it was nice. Love the blocks and binding.

Never pickup up a guitar until a few years ago. I taught myself to build acoustics and can play a few songs. I build them better than I play them.
Wish I had picked one up when I was a kid.

I have almost the same story as the OP. Just bought an acoustic and electric, and having at it with youtube instructionals (which are fairly effective). Just started this one:
Grateful Dead - How to Play - Ripple - Acoustic Songs on Guitar - Guitar Lessons Jerry Garcia (11 min 24 sec)

The other "teach" I really like:
Wish You Were Here Guitar Lesson Pt.1 - Pink Floyd - Intro & Chords (8 min 1 sec)

Always wanted to learn acoustic guitar.

Always been busy doing other things, plus I've got short stubby hands.
