This is throttle control only, as far as I can tell, although it seems like he's steering it somehow, in the video.

Kinda neat just pointing your finger to make things happen. But just what IS happening, I'd like to know.

I'm in the market for something I could peddle at swap meets, this thing may have potential, but I need to know more.

He should have filed a patent for the design.

Interesting comment. How do you know that he didn't?

Anyway, even if he had a patent, one cannot patent an idea. It is only the actualization of an idea that is patentable. And it seems that the Chinese product has made "improvements", or at least changes [finger control instead of iPhone, different rudder design, "bug" shape unit, etc.]. That is legally allowed everywhere.

Next, even if he had the legal right to sue over patent infringement, it usually takes even more money to pursue such things in court than it does to do a good patent search and getting the patent: a good search + patent can cost as little as $20,000, but court fights take years and can cost 10x as much!. And it is very possible to LOSE such a fight and also be saddled with ridiculously expensive court costs, etc. That is why we mainly see successful new products coming from mega-large companies that can afford such, plus GOOD lawyers plus LOTS of money to fight!

Finally, although it has theoretically changed in the last few years, "intellectual property rights" and suing over that is still a somewhat theoretical procedure in China. It would be possible for a large company to stop US sales, but the sales of this item are not likely even close to being large enough to warrant that! And if the seemingly original US inventor of this concept had enough money to do any of the above, he would not have sought crowd-funding ....

This is also listed under "Hot Online Deals" but is alluded to as
"Under Level 2 Wind Dream 1 ...". A "Level 2" wind is 4-7 mph (Beaufort Scale) and while that may be a true statement just like "under level 8 wind" is true (it does have to fly in under level 8 wind conditions, WAY UNDER) I wonder if will fly(upwind) in a 3 mph, the top end of a level 1 wind?

Our design of this product is different from the POWER UP 3.0, and more optimized boot device we use in the design of the rudder is not the same, the fact that we take control of a finger, eliminating the phone installer trouble.
