It's like a king-size Duet! The Delta Ray looks like a jet or flying wing to me, and I'm more into the basic plane shape…yeah, I know the Delta has SAFE, but I don't want SAFE. I don't want a jet-looking plane, and the Duet is cool (love it), but it's a micro.

After spending quite a bit of time on the internet yesterday morning, and digging around through pages of Google searches, I finally found a hobby store that still had one of these babies in stock. They are a true rarity to find anymore. I couldn't believe that I found it brand new, still sealed in a box. Now I'm just waiting for it to arrive. I'm not a beginner anymore, but this plane looks to good to pass up. Can't wait to fly it.
I agree, this was my first plane and I have about 15 now, but I always fly this one first. My neighbor has a delta and I hated the way that thing flew. This in my opinion is the best starter plane

I'm thinking of flying this plane without the landing gear, but I am worried that the little clip that holds the battery door shut will get scraped off by belly landing. Has anyone had an issue with this? if so, what mod did you make to protect the battery door clip?

Never had a problem with the clip coming off during my belly landings, but you could always put a little piece of tape to cover it if your concerned about it snapping off or getting caught on something during a belly landing. I would imagine making the latch close magnetically might be a good solution too.

Well, I found the solution. I picked up some "wing skids" at Hobbytown yesterday, and they are big enough to work perfectly at protecting the battery door latch.

Does anyone know the CG on this bird? The manual doesn't have it listed.

Doesn't matter of you fly it stock. A good rule of thumb is it should be on the thickest part of a wing. Probably around the spare will be fine.

Well, it does matter somewhat. When I first flew it with the battery all the way forward, it was nosing down constantly, and I had to give it constant up elevator to keep it from crashing. It's a fairly fast flyer. I have moved the battery back about 1/2" and it seems to be flying better now, but it would be real nice to know what it's CG is...

This must have been a super popular plane when it came it because you cannot find this plane anywhere anymore. It's gone. I can't find it on Ebay or Amazon, much less any hobby shop that I've Googled it for. It's a damn shame that they discontinued it.

I think this plane severed Horizon Hobby to prove out virtual trainer and gyro technology in a beginner airframe. I believe that all Hobbyzone planes have the Virtual Instructor and gyro system now. My son learned the most on this plane, he has a Eflite Hawker Hurrican and a Parkzone FW-190 is a very good pilot now. Also none of his plans have gyros so he flies them the whole time.

You won't have any problem as long as you secure the screw before flying. I use no extra securing device. You will get grass blade into the compartment when landing though. No biggie. (posted before seeing you already got an answer)

Shame it's out of stock. I learned a lot on this little plane. Maybe I'll sell it.
