It stands for ABSOLUTE and RELATIVE. With the AR636 you are able to adjust your gains from within the TX after they are setup. The ABS setting fixes the settings according to your setup, and cannot be adjusted by the TX. The REL, which allows you to adjust gains from the TX, allows you to adjust the gain settings as a percentage (0 to 100%) of what you put in through setup, hence relative to the settings per setup.

Since neither Phoenix or RealFlight have the ArtiZan available, what would be a similar plane to use to practice?

Ok, just for youze guys, lol!

I think the Realflight Cap 232 - Electric 3D plane fly's very similar to the Artizan.
