I have LOTS of old RC stuff..what do I do with it?

Hi,
My Dad just passed away...and I received all his RC /Glow/Dynajet/Boxed models...etc.

I Donated All his Old rolled & folded Model plans to a good cause/Folks.
But I have everything else.
I Also am into RC and model planes...and have been sice I was a kid..due to my dads intrest in it <He was also a navy Aviator..spads/A-4's etc>

So her is my delima....I now have WAY too much stuff <<But they are all treasures to me>> like OLD RC trasmiters w/receivers & Servos...some perhaps PRE 1950..some 1950...and some 1960's..and a few 1970..to start with.....the 60's 1 is BRAND NEW...still in the box with wrapping/receiver and servos..it is a OS color is pearl blue....even has the leather carring case..cos is still on the box $ 76.50 bought in japan in the mid 60's...<<that was ALOT of money then>>
I also have his old Heathkit Reed RC system...and MUCH much more...
Old Olsen engines...and perhaps on of the smallest OLD diesel airplane motors I have ever seen....fox/eniya/mccoy/cox/ 2 strokes...4 strokes...quad

so Im asking what to do with the Items I will part with...I Will NOT simply give them away...heck some of his Balsa freeflight kits <OLD> are probably worth a pretty penny too.
ANy Help Appreciated...

I bet the AMA museum would like to have some of the old stuff for display.

Selling stuff that old can be a pain with folks asking all kinds of questions because with the age of some of that stuff it would be hard to find info on the internet. There are sites that can help you identify some of the old engines and help place a value on them.

Best of luck and sorry for your loss.

Cheers,
Mike

Ive been dealing with the same problem that you have for a year now. Ive finally decided to take everything to the next RC swap meet and fire sale everything.

I just cant store it all anymore. And I just cant seem to get to the flying field to learn how to use all this stuff.

It seems that my time is so short that i only have time to fly my helicopters out in my back yard.

You might also consider contacting your local RC club to see if they can assist you in valuing your dads stuff. You might find some olks interested in buying some of it that way too.
Another option, put it all on eBay, and then post some links here. A guy did this a couple weeks ago (dumped ALL his stuff), and he got a ridiculous amount of $ for most of his items. Bidding fever makes people do illogical things sometimes (like pay $400 for a dx-8 you can buy new in the store for $300)
Best of luck,
Josh

Sorry about your Father's passing.
If you want to get the most out of each item then ebay is the best route . Some items that wouldn't get a glance on here will sell there.
Sure you can sell some things here but there are a lot of folks looking for something for nothing and with a lot of items to move that can be more hassle than ebay.
As mentioned a large swap meet would work if you just want to liquidate it and just get what you can for it. Some things you will win on, others not so much.
Also as mentioned do some homework or talk with other club members as some items may be worth a lot.
Oh, and keep some things for yourself so you can remember your Dad!

I can't enlagre the pictures but it looks like you have a few early reed style escapement systems. OS Minitron 6 channel reed system?
If you have the other escapement parts that would make a nice collectible set-up for someone.

Do your research on everything, take good photos, and you should have pretty good luck selling here. Yes, your kits are probably worth quite a bit.

There's actually a market for vintage radio gear.

Best bet is to load the pictures direct from your computer as attachments using the "manage attachments" button in the additional options section below the reply box . Or just group them in the off-site location and provide a link to the file.
