got the metal motor mount mounted, bungee launch stud glued, and bottom fiberglassed. motor is a 3550kv heli motor, i pulled 836watts with this motor on my heli and it only weighs 63grams so it should take anything this light jet can dish out

its probably not gonna pull 836 watts since it doesent weigh that much, i will get a final weight when done, but i promise it will be atleast 50grams lighter than my night flyer parkjet which has 80grams of lights hahahaha

Can someone recommend a motor and esc combo thats specifically available from hobbyking that will work with 800mah 3s batts since I already have a bunch of those. My stock mk2 pj is getting smoked by the radjets and funjets in my local club!

Morris what power system is going into that little beast? That's a seriously heavy duty build! I assume you have plans for the elevons? I wouldn't fly it with just those flimsy, flexy, foam surfaces.

I considered adding some extra carbon during my build, but opted for just some strategically positioned strapping tape. So far the plane is rock solid at 100 mph, so the extra carbon wasn't needed.

Morris's plane should be strong enough go at mach speed!

You need a heli motor spec'd for a Trex 250 ... get your KV up over the 3500 ... 3800 mark ... some of those small heli motors can get 4500 + kv

ESC needs to be at least 30A ... with some 50A ... but above 250 heli motor ? I'd plump for a 50A and be done with it .. as you may go bonkers like me and put a 450 heli motor in !! But your 800 3S is a limitation and why I say a 250 heli motor to try and still get a run-time.

Most parkjet flyers in the speed freak world are running larger lipo's and even 4S ... not small 800's, especially if only 20C ...

45A esc
Esc: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...dProduct=12191

4s 1300 45-90C (i have good luck with these and they last alot of cycles cause its nothing to put out 40+amps)
Battery: http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...arehouse_.html

If you are ordering new gear from hobby king anyway, do it right, and invest in some 1300's. I like the Nano 25-50c's. Your PJ will thank you for it! Get a 2836-3200 motor while you are at it, and you may find yourself leaving those pesky radjets and funjets flying in your wake.

If you really want to melt the foam ........

5000kv EDF motor

50A ESC

decent 3S of 1300 - 1800mAh 25C or better

But remember that prop selection becomes more important as you up the anti ... I run a 5x5 on the 3700kv, 450 Heli motor ... and torque is unbelievable ...
I've reduced prop to 4.6 x 5 but haven't been able to test yet.

Remember that : Pitch = speed, Diameter = Thrust / torque ..... so keep pitch high and diameter down.

Also be careful to pick props that are stiff ... I often cut back larger props to give me stiffer, better prop to not flex when large power loads are going through them.

Example : My gasser bipe has 14 x 7 props cut back to 11.5 x 7 .... which then gives a prop that can withstand tremendous loads and still give me flywheel effect of nearly the 14" prop. The 4.6 x 5 is a 5 x 5 cut back. I will also in my quest for MORE speed cut back 7 x 6 prop to 4.? x 6 ......

Not saying leave RC Groups ... but on Wattflyer - there is a thread running ... HK Parkjet Need for Speed - dedicated to pushing the Parkjet to limits ..... people are catching up with my 222 kph ... soon to be passed by someone !

I am using this heli motor http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...i%5FMotor.html and it pulls 25 amps static on a 4.1x4.1 prop. Currently run 1800 3s to get CofG.

Here we go into the old pitch speed debate, while pitch is very important it is useless without diameter.

Remembering to increase speed by double drag goes up by 4, so if you can have as much pitch speed as you like but with diameter it won't get there.
