Walkera 4#3 wont stay in the air. Power keeps dropping.
Ive been enjoying flying my 4#3 recently, but it has always had a bit of a problem in that it always required more throttle to be added during the flight until It was eventually maxed out and it would sink to the ground.
It has now begun doing this even worse, to the point it wont even lift off more than a few feet before sinking.
It has new batteries, and I have even tried Turnigy high discharge to see if it was the voltage dropping through current pull. This made NO difference at all.
The motor has only had a few flights on it, and was working ok. Its never been overheated due to long flights.
Is this a fault with the 4 in 1 or the motor? weird......

I never had a 4#3 motor last much longer than 1 hour, some far less. It's unlikely that it would be the board; FETs (speed controller) work or don't work.... they don't slow down. As far as I recall, there's not much else on that board but 2 FETs, a gyro and receiver. You might try a motor from the Genius. That was the longest lasting Walkera motor I ever owned, by a wide margin.

You didn't say that it would fly fine after losing power. Another possibility is the battery connections and soldering. I recall having to replace connectors with something that had better contacts and having to resolder the battery cable connections on the board. I think this was pretty common, too. It's been about 5 years since I had a 4#3, so it's real hard to remember.

Well, when you say it flys fine after losing power, it does exactly the same again.
I take off, plenty of power, then it slowly loses power over the course of say 20 seconds, and drops to the ground again.
I will hunt for a bad connection or broken strands etc. It could make sense if a connection was heating up and increasing resistance. I will have a better look.
I will also ask my FET specialist at work here and see what he thinks. We use them to control the output on the protection boards on battery packs we make here.
