I feel like a child torn between divorced parents... I used to hang out in the scale electric forums then Balsa Builders forum. Now I'm torn between the two as to which to post build logs to... Maybe I'll post a link to this thread from there?

Anyway, I ran across some nice plans for a CR-32 by an Italian designer. Of course it was all in Italian. I managed to translate enough to get the gist of the instructions. The rest will be left up to my imagination..
The best I can decipher metric materials to good ol' USA measures are as follows:

1mm = 1/32
1.5mm = 1/16
2mm = 3/32
3mm = 1/8
4mm = 5/32? not much balsa in this size I could find...
5mm = 3/16
6mm = 1/4

Best I can figure anyway. I want to get a materials list together this week so I can get it ordered. If someone could verify my interpretations are correct for me, I would greatly appreciate it.

Specs on the CR-32 are as follows:

Wing Span = 40"
Weight = 44 oz.
Wing Area = 372 in/sq
Wing Loading = 17 oz/ft sq

Originally designed for an OS LA 15. I may go with a .15 Exceed motor on a 3s battery. Will be determined by weight once I get that far...

Thanks Joe. I am to assume when ordering wood I use my interpretations?
The plans are by Ruggero Pantini Pantani. I was going to try to make CAD cut sheets to send to Manzono Laser (Charlie) I am doing them in Photo Shop now and I was going to trace in CAD. I am not at all familiar with CAD. I was going to learn on the fly........

I have been working on the cut files. Not sure how they will look when cut though. I could have had all the parts cut by hand already. I like learning to use CAD though. Maybe I will have it ready for next year...

As with any addiction, I just could not resist. I needed my balsa fix and working on the cut files was just taunting me. I ran out Saturday evening and got some balsa, and today began to butcher it into what I hope will resemble a CR-32. Beings I am doing an electric version I am making some modifications as far as the materials used in attempt to lighten the load a little. The plans called for an all plywood fuse box structure. I used a combination of 1/8 balsa and basswood, except for the firewall which I did use birch ply. I will wait to get a little further along before deciding on the power system to be used. I was a little apprehensive to begin this build as it is Italian and all metric but I think I have most of the major obstacles thought out, at least in my mind which fails me some times.....

Had about an hour to work on the Fiat today. Finished the lower front fuse formers and added the rest of the spars to the front. I just wanted to get it off the board.

Worked on the top formers a little today. I do not have much time during the week to concentrate on building, maybe an hour in the evenings. I am going to try to do a little every day if possible. Not sure if I am going to continue posting updates though due to the seemingly lack of interest. I may post the finished product if it turns out though.
