There is measured thrust on the stand, then there is installed thrust. I don't doubt +2kg thrust from 1400watts but that is a lot of amps for 4s. I prefer much lower amp draw mainly because of the twin setup needed in my planes. Much easier on the single battery.

Motor for 70mm 12 blade edf 6S

http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item...d=171419253218

Freewing 70mm 12 bladed normal ducted fan metal EDF without motor

Hello guys

I am looking for a motor for this unit. I think it's a 30mm 2100kv. I haven't been able to find one. I have an Eflite BL 32 28mm 2150kv with me also.

Please post links to any motors you know of.

Thanks.

If the Eflite motor shaft fits the adapter, it would be an ideal 6S setup. The Eflite motor is very good.
Seems to be a better price at MotionRC

Have any of you guys gotten any good, sustainable results with the 13 and 14 blade CS70 fans?

Was originally working with the JF80 and big motors for a twin (each fan on 12s and about 4kw) but now I'm looking at using 4 EDF's in a smaller footprint for the same total thrust as the previous two JF80's. I need about 2.3kg thrust from each of the 4, 70mm fans to make this option viable - thinking 6s on each and HET 2W30 motors on the 10 or 12 blade fan.

The ducting is pod type ducting - as simple as it gets and should lead to very low installation losses (I hope). I would not be looking to restrict the exhaust too much, I'm not trying to be a speed demon on this project.

So for 2.3kg thrust static from the fans - that would be for probably only 20 percent of the flight profile on a 7 minute flight (running 5000mah packs). The rest of the flight would be partial power. Design speed of the jet is not fast - probably 140 max, but mostly at around 100. I am assuming I'd get about 70 percent of max efflux out of the airframe for top speed because it's large and my thrust to weight would be probably only about 50 percent. That means I'd need a max efflux of 200mph.

Having this in mind, I have to admit I'm not sure where the advantage would be on the older 10 blade rotor vs the V2 12 blade rotor. The 13 and 14 blade rotors don;t seem to well tested to me yet. I'm not looking for break neck performance, mostly it will be a partial throttle flight envelope however that staic thrust figure is necessary and I'll need it to hold well enough approaching speeds above 100mph so I can throttle back.

Does this seem easily doable and how well do you guys think the HET 2w30 would hold up over the long term? I've been very happy with big block HET's in my high voltage high power 90mm fans - I just don't have a lot of time on 70mm fans at higher power so I'm not sure if I'm asking for too much on them.

Tacon 2860 in HET L-159

Hey guys, just a simple one for an edf newbee so try to be gentle.

I ordered a HET L-159 and a Tacon 2860 2550kv. I noticed the motor is not vented. No holes around the shaft or back plate for air passage.
Can this motor be used and is it best to add a heat sink if it is used in a fan unit.
Because I am new to electrics this kinda concerns me about the cooling.
The fan is a Sapac 70mm 5 blade.

many thanks

Not sure what you mean by vent the back. Would it help if I removed the end covers and drilled holes?

Thanks,

Now to figure out how to take the ends off. No screws. Must be pressed fit into the aluminum motor can.
