Switchback help

Ok, got my switchback together, and everything checks out properly (i.e. CG, and weight) I am using a gws 370 motor and 8 cell 600 pack. I tried flying it, but have no idea what is wrong, it takes off the ground fine until about 3 or 4 feet, and then won't climb any higher. Just can't get up in the air, its like its struggling. Can anybody come up with any ideas? Thanks for the help

A really easy mistake to make is to put the prop on backwards. The letters face forward. The SB should climb nearly vertical so something big is wrong. Start with the prop and we'll go from there. I'm sure we can figure this out quickly.

The prop would be my first guess too.

If the prop is on right check the throttle trim, throttle channel ATV (if your tx has it), and your esc (if it has a arming squence or programming).

Just in case.

ok...

im sure its not the plane, prop is on right, but I think as the prop is spinning its pulling the shaft out a little so its not meshing correctly with the other gear, to much play. I am pulling the motor out and going to maybe add a washer under the circlip so its got less play. Thanks for the ideas, and if you got any more, keep them coming. Thanks

KDR, the gear is pressed on and can be pushed back if needed. The thing is, that motor produces a lot of power and unless it is seriously binding, it would fly the SB fine. What kind of ESC are you using?

I routinely do touch and goes using only half throttle, so you'll definately know when you've found the problem. She'll be a rocket compared to what you're seeing now!

The prop size is 9x7", aka GWS 9070.
