Build Log
Two F-105D and F-105B Thunderchiefs EDF Foamies

Hi Demondriver here, about two months ago I started a RCG Poll to see which Warbird Build I would do a build thread on and you guys picked the F-105 over the HS-129, Kikka, and F-102, So here it is! My twin F-105 Thunderchief Builds!

These will be constructed with Some New & some Old tried yet True construction methods, I would have loved to build 8-9 foot long Thuds like Longhorn but I simply don't have the money or the room to tackle such huge jets, so I will keep these babies in the 55-60 inch 70mm EDF class.

So sit back & enjoy this build, Please feel free to share thoughts & ideas with me & everyone On this thread.

Its good to get back to my real RC passion . . .Warbirds!

F-105 Model

I find it to be VERY necessary to have a scale model of any plane you plan to scratch build, really helps you when you can hold the plane in your hands & see its shapes & curves.

Plans . .

Here are my F-105's Hand drawn plans, I find tracing paper Is WAY easier to draw your plans out on & overlay all three views so you can match them up with eachother.

I've Got a Balsa Tree . .

I wish I had a Balsa forest out back lol, I'm an old Balsa builder at heart and use it whenever I can, These T-Chiefs will have All Balsa Rudder-Tails & stabiliers & possibly wings as well and Dorsal fin. . . .all to be reinforced with carbon Fiber.

Random thought.
Does it matter what way the grain is going when you're building with balsa?
Take the tail, is it better to have the grain going vertical or does it not matter?

It does Sir, But if your re-inforcing your balsa with Carbon fiber then it makes No difference, if I wasn't then I would have to go with the grain of the wood.
