I do have a question guys...... i replaced my power 25 with a turnigy G25 9eflite mentor) since i was getting bad vibrations and everything was fine but couldnt make any further test on the motor so i decide to give it a try to the g25... only 25 buck.. it seems stronger and a ilttle bit more powerful. but any ways, i was doing some test with the watts meter.. and found the WOT was drawing 43.9 amps. i went to the ESC manual (stock eflite mentor ESC) and it says 40 AMPS esc but Momentary Peak Current: 55A (15 sec) so i dont know if im the safe side guys... geez!!! i guess the stock power 25 draws 44 ams at WOT too right? so i dont know if i really need to get another ESC or what? since both motors draw same Amps and it came like that from factory.

They are pretty much the exact same motor (same kv, max watts, amps, dimensions). Are you running a different prop, different battery (what is the C rating, stock is only 3s 3200 15C). Anything more would give you slightly higher numbers. Anytime you are running over the continuous current you are pushing it and you must have adequate cooling. You also must wait a certain amount of time between burst sessions to allow the esc to cool. If that is what the system is pulling, I would up the esc to be on the safe side.

Tell us exactly what the setup is and we can help more. Something had to change to be getting numbers over 40.

i have same set up.. except im using Turnigy 3300mAh 3S 20C batteries

I would swap it out just to be on the safe side.

but the stock system really comes with 20C batteries... at least thats what the eflite web says

it's weird, under specs it says 15c but under parts it lists the 20c battery. Anyways, I am just trying to figure out why it is running over the stock speed control if everything is still (prop (12x8 2-blade, battery, motor) Does the motor get hot bc that amp range is the max for the motor as well.

To save money, you could just switch the prop instead.

On the calc a 12x7 actually increases thrust and rpm to 1.04:1 which is better than the stock 12x8. You lose a little speed but prolly wouldn't notice it. These numbers are approximations but should be relatively close

yeah.. thanks for the help buddy. it is really crazy... maybe its because of the battery... i tried for a few secs and the motor not even warm.

with a 12x7 you should be in the 37A range. As long as you have proper airflow over the esc, you will be fine

It says that the supplied ESC is 30A.

yeah but is THIS one that size as some people have had problems with this
