I learned on the Duet... If I had it to do over again I would not pick that plane. I picked it cause I liked the way it looked over the champ. It flew great but lacked a rudder.

I'd go the UMX Radian if your going micro, amazing plane, very easy to fly, plus long flight times.

For larger planes the Delta Ray. The delta Ray lacks a rudder, but it's such a very very forgiving plane to fly, plus very easy to fix.

Just remember that when you buy the "most cheapest" that the pleasure of good quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten. It's remembered long after the bitter taste of high price is forgotten too.

What you should look for is "best value" instead of "most cheapest." I think you'll find that the price-quality graph has a knuckle. As price falls quality drops slightly until you get to a certain point where the quality drops off like a cliff while the price drops only a little bit. Buy on the upside of that knuckle. Don't save $10 to buy a plane you hate.

I agree with not buying the cheapest but hobbyzone plane's gotten from horazon are all good planes that fly out the box more than any other brand. And are coming from a great company with good support and make good planes for big or small amounts of money. And I have tryed 5 different brands of starter planes many turn out to be good planes with some work. But a good starter plane is a plane that flys well out the box .
