FMS P-51 w/ Turnigy 5055 - spinner problem

Hi,

I have upgraded my FMS giant P-51 with a Turnigy 5055 580 motor but I am trying to figure out how to adapt the spinner backplate to the shaft. The shaft is 8mm and the backplate hole is 5mm. I drilled out the hole (a little larger than 8mm) but cannot get the thing to spin true without wobble. Any idea how I can do this, or should I look for a different spinner?

If it's wobbling chances are you got the hole off center when you drilled it.

Spencer.

You can contact Terry at www.smallpartscnc.com. I had him make me a run of prop adapters for the FMS birds with both Turnigy 42-xx and 50-xx bases and FMS style shafts that fit the P-51 spinner. He hasn't listed them on his site yet, when you contact him just tell you want the ones like he made for Gary.

Wow, thanks a lot gbancrof. Will do. Did he make the shafts to fit both the new and the older version spinners? I just discovered that the new (V6) spinner has an 8mm hole, which I thought would be a slip on fit for my 8mm shaft, but apparently it still needs reaming to fit properly.

Spencer,

I just had him do the new V6 spinner, which also has the same hex base that the new FMS hubs have like the one for the P-47 four bladed prop. Terry is very accommodating and can tweak the shafts to your needs. I had him add a 1/2" to my shafts just in case I needed it.
