My cnc indoor airplanes

Hello,

I'm cutting and building airplanes for indoor/park with my MiniCut2d's CNC hot wire.
I will present them here and give the plans/links if someone is interested.

I will begin by the last one, because I know were are the pictures!

It's the "EPProof", an EPP model, inspired by the french model "PolyClub", but with more style (I hope! )

Wingspan 80cm - 200g fully equiped - pictures below
The files will be available soon on.www.frenchfoam.com

A little video, this morning :
EPProof, super avion découpé CNC (1 min 45 sec)

Tested last Tuesday indoor, it's cool and crashproof!

Nice little plane.
I espcially liked in your video that it took off from the quite narrow wall ledge.

That's clever.. the mini cut gizmo.. a 3 axis foam cutter.
Typically those are 4 axis, allowing for tapered cuts

I'm a 4 axis expert user since 10 years, but it is not simple for everyone to do the files and to use the machines, so the idea was to do a machine "for everyone", with easy-to-do 2 axis files and easy-to-use software. And it works!

Hi,
I don't have videos of the cut of this plane I attach a picture below.
This is the second version of the machine, I have only one video with it, but not very good quality.

The best video to see the wire and the cut is this, with the v1.0 of the machine :
Maker Faire Kiosk (4 min 7 sec)

With the new version (v1.2), it's this video but too bright (speed is increase, normal speed is 4mm/s).
MiniCut2d & CNC fil chaud : Halloween 4, la découpe des pièces (6 min 37 sec)

Ahh it's your design then?
I do find it attractive and well thought out.
I like how it even folds for storage
The approaching 1000$ price, does give pause though
Adding a capability for a brushless motor as Router Conversion package would certainly Up it's value/ versatility IMO.
Then one could rout out in 3d airframes (or substantial parts of one, given it's smallish size) from Billet Foam
Albeit one would need enclose the thing in a tent to keep the resultant foam dust from migrating to one's dinner plate.

Yes Bare, it's my design, and the software too (free to download and test).
If everything goes well, some full kit (easy to assemble in 5 hours) will be available on MakerShed.com between 599 and 699USD in 1 or 2 weeks.

Very interesting machine, an excellent alternative to laser for cutting foam. The method for cutting multiple sheets at once is brilliant. Looking forward to learning more about your machine!

Thank you. I have translated in english the user guide, the assembly manual, the software, and some pages of the website minicut2d.com (see the english section).
There is also a video about the vectorisation tool in the software with subtitles in english :
MiniCut2d & CNC fil chaud : tuto vectorisation Halloween 1 (8 min 42 sec)

And the sharing project website has got an english template.

Here are some other cool projects (see pictures below)
Rafale et MicroStyle (2 min 50 sec)

These 3 projects are on the sharing website. So you can download the dxf files and make your own. (No wood on the third picture, it's painted 6mm Dépron foam.)

A nice job of my friend Pascal : the 3D Sketchup plan of the EPProof, for the full report of the project. Soon on the 3Dwarehouse.
