H Quad from AR Drone
Thought I would share my H Quad journey here.
So long story short, my AR Drone stopped working a couple of years ago and I just recently decided to build something more versatile and customisable, using the AR motors, gear ratio, battery....
I've got a DX6i radio so I want it to be on a 2.4ghz rather than wifi as well so I left all boards and cables out for now and will use a CC3D instead. Will also switch out the battery to a higher C rated one, as soon as I get the thing to work.
Here's a list of stuff:
4 AR motors
— Brushless motors
— 14.5 W
— 35,000 rpm
— 3 cells
— 1000 mAh
— 4 x 30A ESC
— CC3D board
— Spektrum DX6 Transmitter
— Spektrum Receiver
— FPV Transmitter and Receiver
Here's a first look at the build (no electronics in place just yet). It's not in the smallest category since the AR props are quite massive so ended up on 240x280 or so between the prop mounts.
What do you think? Will it work?

Read another post here somewhere and apparently the little motors will be ok with just 10amp ESCs so I'll go for that instead.

A first look at adding a Mobius prototype and battery. Also extended the little cables on the motors.
Will score the top plate so that the battery and camera strap doesn't have to go all around it. Will also sit the camera behind the bent-down front panel so that it's a little bit more protected.
Now I'm just waiting on most of the other parts.
