Chicken and the egg. No one supports it because there's no users. No users because no gimbal.

I bought the AS-15 initially because it was a better deal than the gopro. Ended up buying a gopro anyway because no gimbal support.

^^^ My case exactly. I currently run a gopro on a beholder lite gimbal. I could envision a bracket that would hold the action camera that would allow you to slide it from side to side or front to back to balance the gimbal. I seem to remember a site that was advertising a gimbal for the AC but gave up on it a while back.

I saw one place selling them, but they wanted $400 or something for it. In a world where we can get a tarot 2d gopro gimbal for $150 that works almost flawlessly, it's just not worth it when the combined cost of the gopro+gimbal is cheaper.

Is it as easy as taking an existing working gimbal and adding a 1/4-20? I haven't done much tardy about gimbals, but it shouldn't be difficult to modify a GoPro.

Edit - just looked at the Alexmos gimbal controller. Building a frame to support the AS15/30 shouldn't be difficult. Two "L" shaped bars - one from the top panning servo to attach the tilting servo, second "L" bar from the tilt servo to hold the Action Camera... add a 1/4-20" screw & nut. Lexan plastic is easy to cut and bend. Aluminum or steel strapping could be viable also. The length of the Sony cam could possibly increase the clearance needed for tilt...

Hmmmm doing some CSI I found this simple solution, the user in the video rotated the gimbal 90 degrees to fit his longer video camera

RCTimer ASP Gimbal Testing Part 2 (2 min 6 sec)

This could very well work on Gopro styled gimbals!

Now all I need is a different GP gimbal(I have the Tarot unit)

not a bad idea koolkiwikat, looking at that you could almost turn any gimbal with a decent length shelf 90 degrees and use it, just swap the motors for pa and tilt and you'd be laughing

Heres a simple gimbal I knocked up using aluminium angle

The motors, parts & sizes are outlined in the attachment (just use free version of Eagle to view) but actual final positions should not be taken as exact

I made the parts and then used double-sided tape to temporarily attach the camera so as to check balance before final drilling

Very nice! Exactly what I had envisioned... going to try it with plastic, hopefully the vibrations from the material aren't too bad.

Looks interesting. Is it missing a pan gimbal? Or is it hidden in the vibration dampening plate?
