Question
sketch up

Is this program no longer free? I downloaded what I thought was the basic version but it said I only had a 30 day trial. Anyone know what's up.

Download Sketchup Make. That's the free version.

The 30 day trial version used to morph into the free version after the trial period expired. I don't know if that is still the case or not.

Yeah, there's a paid version and a slightly dumbed down free version. When it was owned by Google it was totally free, but it's now owned by Trimble Navigation and they want/need to make their investment back.

Not quite. Google sold SketchUp Pro, which added Layout & StyleBuilder. Trimble do the same. Layout is an excellent way to take your 3D model and generate plans from it; find a local print shop that can take PDFs up to say 36" x 48" and you're in clover. I did my house plans that way, as do thousands of architectural companies.
