3D Hobby Shop 71" Slick - Gas thread
Hi I thought i would start a 71" Gas Slick thread.
i am going to get one . and i haven't decided on a engine yet
and would like to hear from you guys that fly this plane on gass.
and all your setups. so please lets not let this turn into a engine war
i do not have the money to try different engines. so i would like to know what you use and if you think the engine is too heavy and so on.
i hope this turns out good for us that like to use gas.
Here is our 71 with a Mintor 33. It would be plenty for the slick. A dle is also an option. We have both engines. What we have experienced is the DLE engines
are hit and miss. The Mintor was plug and play with a little tuning and GO! Price wise they are close. I would tend to say that for the first time experience the Mintor would be a better option. The dles are great little motors and put out a ton of power.
But they can vary from great to not so great. If you get one that is not so great it can
be the cause of frustration for you in the beginning. Vallyview for the DLE has excellent sales and service. Top Dawg Aviation has the sales and service for the Mintor's.
Both engines are the same distance from the firewall. The Mintor has a slightly different bolt pattern. I have a template drawn for it. Pm me if you need it.
Here are a few pics all mounted up! Also note battery placement. This gives a cg which is a just to the rear edge of the wing tube.
