Help!
Need a lipo battery recommendation

I have a seagull extra 260 63" span. I will use it for just sport flying and not 3d. It has a electrifly rimfire 80 and a CC talon 90 esc. I do want to run the servos off the bec since the esc is capable of it. My question is since i have not bought any batts for it yet what do you guys recommend as far as c rating and mah? I want to run 1 6s pack in this plane insted os 2 3s packs.

Thanks

If your not flying 3D, I'd go with a 4000mah/ 30C/ 6S or even a 5000/6S/30c.
They supply good power for reasonable flight times and still be easy on the battery. Doug B

i think you would have to do a battery management check first to see if you can get 10 mns on a pack and check how many mahs go back into your battery, your trying to save a few bucks by not buying to many packs i take it,, i have a 40 size stick plane using 4 cell 4000 packs and can get 2 good 4 mns flights just like your thinking.

I fly a similar size but bit lighter (under 8lb) Wind S 50e pattern model on 6S 5000, with minimal use of full power, which is around 1200W. I have my timer set for 7 minutes, and recharge about 60%. Considering discharge more than 80% is bad for the battery, and power drops off a fair bit in the last third or so of capacity, I think 2 x 5 minute flights on a single 5000 pack might be a bit optimistic. It'd probably take throttle management to the extent of just puttering around the circuit. I know it's a bit of an expense, but getting an extra pack or 2 and treating them gently is probably better value in the long run. BTW, mine are nothing fancy, just HK Zippy 25 or 30C.

I hear you on the recharge with those big packs at the field. I take 3 and that's it for that model. But I usually take 2 or 3 other modelss as well so that's plenty flying.
