Buy whatever you like and enjoy it - so long as it's safe and no-one ends up wearing a plane.
In hindisight, some of the things I bought and flew were beyond my capability at the time, but it's what I
wanted to do. I could have made better choices, sure. But I also learnt a helluva lot doing it my way.
I now know a lot more than I did when I started this hobby. And I also know that you never stop learning. If your heart and wallet can accept the loss of a plane along the way, I figure you're better off for the experience gained.
An old saying is "A wise man learns from another mans mistakes - fools learn by their own".
That would make me a non-wise man, but a bloody experienced (old) fool
I've found that going with what I want, but listening along the way and weeding out the emo crap from the truth is a pretty good starting point.
