User-Built Models for PhoenixRC

Seems to me that a thread about user-built PhoenixRC models might be useful.
Know that there are other folks building their own models, so perhaps this might be a place to trade experiences and share models.

I'm pretty new to this, but let me start by attaching the files for my Das UglyStik.
To install, unzip UglyStik_v1.zip to your PhoenixBuilder\Test\Models directory.
In PhoenixRC under Model.Change.Testing.Airplanes.Performance, you should then see a plane named "UglyStik v1 .

A PhoenixRC video and a PhoenixBuilder screenshot are below.

Enjoy, rick p

Hey guys,
Any of you computer geniuses build me a Pilatus Porter PC-6.....1600-1800mm W/S ? The other one I would like is the Taft Dornier Do-27 w/1600mm w/s. For use with Phoenix 5 or RF-7.5. At 71, my computer comprehension level is just adequate enough to get by. Attached are links. Thanks.....

Denny

Denny,

My F7F and B-25 projects are nearing completion and I was wondering what to do next, so I'll check those out.

Cheers, rick p

Hey Rick,
THANKS!!! I would sincerely appreciate any efforts you could muster. I would love to have these (2) to practice with. If it can't be done, I will understand.

F7F for your Enjoyment

Took a break from the Pilatus to finish the F7F.

A big thank you to BSquared18 for finding a great 3D model as a starting point.
Originally created by Jacque Brault for X-Plane, Bill converted it into an OBJ file importable into Blender.
It was much more sophisticated than my creation, so I switched horses.
After a reasonable amount of Blender and PhoenixBuilder work I ended up with v27 which is attached.

To install, unzip F7F_v27.zip to your PhoenixBuilder\Test\Models directory.
In PhoenixRC under Model.Change.Testing.Airplanes.Scale, you should then see a plane named "F7F v27 .

A PhoenixRC video and a PhoenixBuilder screenshot are below.

Been flying this model a lot and really like it - turned out much better than I expected. But, I NEED SOME HELP.
Would like to publish the F7F through Phoenix, and could use some perspective from you folks out there before I take that step.
So please fly this thing and give me some feedback.

Enjoy, rickp

Flying Bulls PC-6

Thank you, Denny, for suggesting this project.
Turned out to be a nice airframe, and it's hard to resist the Flying Bulls paint scheme.
Blender and PhoenixBuilder screenshots are attached, as is a video at the Countryside Hill site.
Pretty windy there, and the Pilatus was more stable then anticipated.
Flown on low rates - nicely aerobatic at high rates.
Also attached is a zip file of the model if anyone would like to try it out.

Enjoy, rick p

Beech Model 17 Staggerwing

Had pretty much made up my mind to develop a Catalina PBY as my next model and had even set up reference drawings in Blender.
Then something made me remember the Beech Staggerwing I saw at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum a few years ago.
Considered by many to be one of the most beautiful aircraft ever designed, I couldn't resist creating a model.
The final project should look something like the attached picture.

Cheers, rick p

Hey Rick,
You do some nice work. I watched the new PC-6 Red Bull vid you posted....a gasser. Yes... I downloaded it. Now I can fly both elec. & gas. Thanks for your interest to provide some very unique planes not available from the sim developers.

Thanks Denny!
WRT gas - I just kinda like the smoke trail in the sim.
You can easily turn it into an electric by clicking Model.Edit.Propeller in PhoenixRC and making a few changes.
Let me know if you need help with that.

Regards, rick p

Army Beech Staggerwing

US Army version of the Beech Staggerwing assigned to US embassies in Europe in the late 30's.
This particular aircraft is the YC-43 assigned to the London air attache'.
Very nice flying aircraft - my favorite creation yet.

Enjoy, rick p

Smithsonian Staggerwing

Was able to knock out a quick Smithsonian version by editing only the texture files.
Flies exactly like the YC-43, of course, but I'm a sucker for yellow planes.

Enjoy, rick p

Final Three Staggerwings

Really, really enjoying these Beech Staggerwings.
Ended up creating three versions - Smithsonian D-17S, YC-43 Traveler, and a SD-17S Amphib painted in Texaco colors.

Great aerobatic airframe, and as you'll note in the video, the amphib is a ton of fun.
