What is/was this?
  I found this in a shop I was cleaning out and wonder if anyone knows what it was originally. Also any ideas on what to make out of it now. I'm thinking some sort of barge or skow, from looking at the hull design it is not going to set any speed records. It is 51" long and 12" wide and only about 4" top to bottom. |

Looks like some version of USS MONITOR or MONITOR class ships.

looks like a columbus ironworks model.. confederate ironclad,, http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1311598 heres an old add with alot of the line up, Idea was 1/48th scale combat (ramming allowed) company folded..

I think you are probably correct, I think was a Merrimac/CSS Virginia from what I can find. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, now to come up with a new design for it.
