RC Paddle Steamer?

Does anyone know if you can buy a kit of an RC Paddle Steamer?

There's many of them out there.

It would be interesting to build one of those paddlewheelers or sternwheelers that were used as warships by the CSA. You can read about them in James Nelson's civil war naval series. They had cotton bales for armor, a gun or two mounted and a ram on the front.

This one looks OK (though I'd set the funnel and masts to 'lean back' more than the one shown on the page) - http://www.scalemodelboatyard.co.uk/
- you get them on ebay from time to time also...

Thanks, but please do us all a favor and don't post links to #@!* sites like that, with all those $%#!@ pop ups, more obnoxious than a p0rn site, had to reboot my PC to turn it all off.

The Hunter's wheel concept of a horizontally mounted paddle wheel would make an interesting static model; but an operating model would have the same problems as the original.

Quote:
In the 1830s and 1840s the sea services were searching for an alternative to the cumbersome and highly exposed side paddle wheels. Navy Lieutenant William Hunter proposed horizontally mounted paddle wheels, which rotated merry-go-round style within the hull, below the waterline. Apertures in the hull sides allowed the paddles to act on the surrounding waters.

Probably similar in concept to a Robbe or Graupner bow thruster:

But the idea has been improved on with the Voith-Schneider drive!

Yes, but some sites where I NEED the pop ups (usually bona fide commercial sites) get real confusing when they're blocked. I'd love to see people bail out of free hosts like Angelfire (one of the worst for ads) and go to places like Yahoo. Still have ads, but they're off on the side, easily closed, minimal popping. Example, my free home page:

p.s.: apologies for my thread digression...

Thanks for all the replies - it looks like Graupner's Glasgow is what I'm after.
Is there any video footage of rc paddle steamers on the net?
