Busa 1/4 d-7 rim fire 50 cc?

I'm building a busa 1/4 scale d-7. It should be about 20 to 25 lbs. I'm trying to decide gas or electric. If I go gas I want it to be a four stroke. I don't know if the saito fg-36 has the power to pull this plane. For electric I have everything but the motor. I have never used a rim fire motor and was wanting to know if this is a good choice or is there a better choice for this plane? This will be the heaviest plane I have by 10 lbs or so. A power 110 is the largest motor I have used so this is new to me. Any help will be greatly apperciated

BSUSA 1/4 Fokker DVII

Greg:

I built the Arizona DVII about 5-6 years ago.Did it in Lothar von Richthofen's
colors. Nice.

I over-built my machine and it weighs 29.3 pound gross t.o.weight. Yes, your busa will be about what you estimate weight-wise and should require far less power than mine does. I use a Quadra 40 XL gasser. The airplane is very under powered with the 40 and obviously needs a 50. Your DVII could do well with a 40.

Incidentally, my Quadra leaves plenty of space for a dummy Mercedes which on-lookers love. And the engine is very docile to start and handle.

Regrettably my ship tends to bend my 5/32 axles which may be due in part to the
soft music wire. I don't think you will not have that problem.

Thanks for the info. I was reading a thread on rcscalebuilder and a guy had one at 18 lbs. everything was in front of c g. And no scale cosmetics. Built just for flying. I may try to get mine below 20 lbs also and then get another for scale. I am doing the Carl Degelow scheme. There is a thread where a guy made an operative landing gear and he sales them.
