BJCraft - MONOLOG 70 for 50e
Hi Rc guys ,
I want to introduce you my new BJ PARK MONOLOG 70 www.bjcraft.com .
Wing Span: (1500mm)
Flying Weight: 2800g with battery
I chose this model like easy transport F3A practice plane.
After mail mail with Mr Bond of WWW.BONDAERO.CO.UK on 3 days I got the big box at my home.
Like you can see in pictures the Box is really big, the plane is perfectly packet and all come me without wrinkles or damages.
The Monolog 70 is a real nice plane and fine project .
the aerodynamic study Mr. Park get on the project is perfectly showed in fly and in building.
The film covering is nice and the color real attractive , building is easy and instructions nice, Carbon fiber wing baionet is present.
The hardware is good , fiber gear apart .
About the gear Mr. Park suggest one wire gear this to not get canalizer effects .
Wile I replaced wit one on thin Carbon fiber gear.
My power set-up is:
Hacker A50-14S - ESC 70Ah w.Bec Hacker, 5S 4000 APC 16X8 0r 17x8 , 4 x align 610 servos and Futaba 2.4 GHz receiver.
The Monolog Fly is like F3A plane.
It fly great but best is the knife-edge fly, you can easy perform knife loops, knife Cuban 8s and all the F3A program with out problems,
great is in slow rolls and points rolls.
It fly like bigger plane , like one 2mt F3A .
1)The correct, suggested and build in, setup is:
Stabilo = 0°
Main Wing = + 0,4°
Motor = + 1,5 ° ( yes , UP trust. That's correct! )
2) Secure fix the canopy to void losing fly during.
I replace the ply fixing canopy pieces, with Fiberglass sheet .

They are two different project planes.
One get the best in some figures the other get the best on other figures.
Al projects are a compromise with in characteristic fly handle.
Wile both fly great.

thanks for the fast reply! I am between those 2 planes. I want them for f3a masters program practice. I tend towards the monolg cause it is lighter than the wind 50 and it will suit better my 5s batteries that i already have. What are the max amps on your setup and what flight times do you get with the 5s 4000 mah ?

For 5S ,
The best ( IMO ) are for sure the lighter Monolog or Angel .
I fly 8 - 9 minutes but I do not tested AMPs already , I'll do it soon .

unfortunately I didn't weight all the parts, but I can tell that mine is 3 kg AUW with 300 grams motor, 4 x 35 grams servos, turnigy 4000 30c 5s lipo (about 600 grams), 70 amp ESC. Power 1000 watt, more than enough for 6 min of pattern flying

Thanks santuz. I just ordered a Monolog 70. Once I get it, I'll weigh the complete airframe minus the electronics. I would like to use my 5S, 3700mah lipos that I already have, four HS-225MG servos, an 80 amp ESC and I'm thinking of a cheap brushless motor, like this:
XYH50-55 580kv, 290 grams
E-Power BL4020 520KV, 285 grams
I would like to set it up to be lightweight and not over powered.

I ended up ordering a Monolog 70 from f3aunlimitted. I sprung for the Hacker and Castle Creation in the combo. Might be more than I needed to spend but I'd like to try higher-end components than the crap I put in my foamies. With the combo on sale, it kept the price reasonable. Not much more for the combo than just the airframe if I went with the 3DHS Osiris. I know that's a nicer plane but I'm a beginner at pattern and didn't want to sink that much into just the airframe.
I haven't picked out servos yet. I'm leaning toward the HS digital karbonite ones -- HS-7975HB. I'm trying to hold off on building until this winter but if I get bored, I might order the servos on my next credit card cycle.
I might try the stock landing gear with some added wire or I might spring for $28 carbon gear off ebay. Haven't decided that either.
I read the (poorly-translated from Korean) setup instructions online. I take it the original wire gear model used 1.5* of up thrust but the composite gear model uses 0*. So I think I'll build the motor mount box with 0*. Not sure if it will need right thrust or not. I figure if I build the box exactly square, I can always shim to achieve final thrust angle during my trim procedure.
