HK Genesis Ideas

Hi all

I have just bought a genesis, and boating is new to me ? I am going to just run it on 3s batteries, can you recommend props to run on 3s and props to run on 4s.

You're going to hit a bit of a snag in prop selection. Most of the good props in the right diameter/pitch are 3/16" bore and the Genesis drive line is 4 mm.

The stock motor it comes with will handle 4s but the esc won't live long over 3s or if you start propping up.

You should be ok with the stock prop on 4s, a buddy of mine had one and 4s worked well, he got 39 mph out of it.

/thanx all i am not aware of it coming with any ESC ? I will be ordering a Turnigy 180a esc.

Do you think it wise to start with 3s since i am new to boats ?? Then perhaps move on to 4s ?

I have seen a shop i can get 4mm props, tho not many..

Any other advise would be great

What it comes with may have changed since the one I had. (It's been a few years). Mine came with motor and esc but no steering servo.

The T180 is a very good esc and is what I put into mine after upgrading the motor to run on 6s. (about 2 weeks after getting the boat)

Mine started out with the stock motor and a T180 - drive was changed to .150 and it ran fairly well on 4S with a 40mm prop.

With the 120A ESC on 4s, an Octura 437/3 works very well. A guy at our last race meeting won two out of three heats with that setup against Aeromarine Sprintcats with Nue motors & Hyperion batteries etc. He was running on Zippy packs. It was in pretty windy & rough conditions too.
If you do get the 180A ESC then the X440/3 or the X642 are good props. They keep that 8XL motor running in the sweet spot. As long as the hull is well aired out & not running wet.

With a short piece of 3/16" brass tube as a sleeve on your 4mm shaft, you can fit all the 3/16" props you want.
Cheers.
Paul.
