Glow to electric conversion with a twist.

I am rebuilding an old Midwest Flea Fli +10 that a friend gave me. I want to use electric motor this time around but I want to retain the glow engine look for nostalgia.

So I think this is how I am going to do it. I am going to cut a G10 fiberglass plate to mate the electric motor to the back plate holes of the glow engine.

Interesting. The look might be right, but the sound (or lack of) will sure throw guys for a loop, until they figure out what you've done. I'm not familiar with that model, but wonder if weight might be an issue?

I am only using the IC engine crank case. All the insides are gone. I am debating if I want to keep the bearings. I am also changing the electric motor to an Aveox 1010/3Y inrunner. That way I get a bit more rpm so I don't have to swing such a large diameter prop.

SeismicCWave,

Did you ever pursue this? I think it's a great idea and would like to see the results!
