35m Motor selection

The stated weight is MTOW is 6.6 Lbs - Its hobby king after all so we can take that with a grain.. make it a bag of salt. Lets work on 7 Lbs MTOW

I feel I'm going to need around 125 watts per pound so with a nice margin, 500 watt motors that I would like to run on 4s 4000 / 5000 depending on CG. Prop requirement is stated as " 2 x 11x6 -12x4 props "

I love scorpion motors.

This is a 30m motor but well about power specs.

Any input is as always welcome for my little twin.

I would really consider getting a Motrofly motor. Something like a 2810 or a 2815. Youre gonna need specific props on this plane and if you call Ken at Motrofly and tell him what props youll be using, he can wind them to whatever you need.
The way I would approach this is I would find 2 props...1 counter rotating, and 1 regular that would fit your needs, then call Ken. You will end up with the lightest motor up front, producing the watts you want and itll be the most efficient setup.

Euan - Thanks for the pictures. I remember seeing these posted a while back. Its truely amazing little aircraft and the kids looks about the right size !

Cabledawg, great idea and I was thinking about using a counter rotating prop. One feature the Cri Cri has however is, as both props create one thrust line and pilots report no adverse yawn effects with one or two motors running so its not a tradition twin in that respect. In fact, in alot of country is actually citified as a single engine believe it not. I might give Motrofly a look however as this sounds worth looking into indeed. Many thanks.

Well I ordered mine. I had a smaller one that was a really great flyer.
With the counter rotating props it jumped into the air. (look up wetbees cri cri)

Is anyone going to start a build thread?
I'll have a few questions about proper size motors/props
Now for the slow boat from China

I'm sure it would work. Plenty of room inside for batteries! Not sure where you'd mount the tow release though.
