It is cool but silly at the same time.
While Ed was flying it I had to pause in-between shots to laugh.

I don't know if it was the little guys inside or that ww2 turret that made me chuckle but it did.

I was impressed with the kit and for $10 you just cant go wrong to get "another look" for your MQX.. I might have to order another though my buddies are jealous..

Wish there were more scale bodies for the e-flight/nine eagles copters besides MIA and Manrow.

I just finished making one out of a Pepsi bottle.

I started a thread (and have been the only one replying LOL) in the micro section linking several people with scale bodies on their Blade 120SR. It's not all that hard to adapt quite a few other-OEM bodies to it.
In addition to replacing the CX3 skids with proper Robinson ones, my current project is mounting this body to the MSR:

I am very interested in some new canopy ideas for the mQX!

So far I tried a plastic Solo bowl and a styrofoam bowl. Not close to being better than the original, but light enough.

For now I am getting by with some scraps of Blaze Orange packing tape on the front of the original canopy. It really helps orientation when outdoors.

Keep up the good work folks. Can't wait to see some more ideas.

I almost started building a vacuform box yesterday and may still do it. Does anyone here know the type and thickness of the original canopy plastic for the mQX, and where to get some?

Very cool.
The plastic measures about .007 thick , I would prefer .010
If you go to Office Depot you can get report covers that are made with acetate.
This is a thermo plastic and can be formed . . the down side is measures about .008

The problem is how fast it heats up and cools.
You only have seconds to get it away from the heat before there is a melted hole.
And if you time it right you only have a blink to get it over the form tool and get the vacuum seal to be made.
any kind of a leak and it will not pull down al the way.

It's a learning curve and you should plan to throw some plastic away.
On the good side the report covers only come in packs of 25 or so.

My homemade canopy is the half of a soap bottle with spray paint and electrical tape.

That is a cool one.
I had a guy suggest that I make a lady bug body for the MQX .
With the right colors applied yours would work for that.
Right now I'm working another body style.

Sort of an X wing fighter without the X wing.

Thank you. I get lady bug from some people and I get turtle from the rest. I just found out about glow in the dark spray paint... I might have to venture over to home depot and check it out.

The other day I was thinking that the MQX would be awesome with a Tie-fighter body. The body would need to be light of course, and the side panels would need to be split almost all the way through (except for the center) to allow the blades to spin around midway up each panel, and you'd have to wire the motors through the 2 'stalks' on either side of the central cockpit.
I bet it would look great zipping around the air, especially dog fighting with an X-Wing
