I used to like bugs and loved insects.
I received many a collection back in the day.
A minor glimpse on me older brother from me moms first marriage.

I only have one set of few ancient artifacts from his journeys cause of decay/lost/stolen.

I'm a big fan of critters, exo- and endo-skeletal. Today I got the first buggie I bought in a while. The rest are buried deep in storage. This one--- it's hard to photograph. It's a butterfly, Morpho godarti godarti. Look it up. The pictures show a light blue iridescence. What's really going on is it's a white butterfly, and when you turn it one way, it turns blue. When you keep going, the blue shifts to purple, and then goes funny and disappears. Ayup, ultraviolet. Morpho eyes are known to be very sensitive to UV; a flying male will be like a flashing strobe light to others.

What a find!

There is just no words to describe how amazing ' Mother Nature' is, that is why we need to stop and ' Smell the Roses ' each day and enjoy what we have here on this old spinning rock

Duane, great video! I gotta go subscribe to this guy.

G-Don, well written. This is how I view the world every day. There are big wonders and little wonders, and itty bitty wonders, all around and within us. Physical and intellectual, tangible and untouchable, all around us there are things to learn and see, and hopefully some day understand.

Kaytie did you ever see the video of Andy Green's record run breaking the sound barrier at 760 mph in the Bloodhound jet powered car from the UK

The sound wave goes out 90 degrees from the nose of the car on both sides for several hundred feet and leaves a dust cloud

You would think that the dust would be from the rear of the car, but it starts right at the front and fans out at that speed ' Un-believable stuff '

BTW Andy wanted to make another run and try for 800 but after looking at he PC readout where the car was only touching the dirt every 300 yrds or so he says ' I'am out of Here '

The thing weighed in a 20,000 lbs with the 2 jet engine angled down to keep it planted on the ground and it was still trying to fly

At ground level that air gets pretty stiff and very hard to blow a hole in it, lots of stuff going to keep you from going that fast

G Don

Ps

That glass was broken by Harmonics or I guess cycles at very hi-speed, I had a lot of time with Harmonics with my racing engines breaking Valve Springs etc

G-Don, I haven't seen the video, but I've seen the car, and heard the tale. Amazing! Not for me.

Did you watch the explanation on why Prince Rupert's Drops break the way they do? The polarized images are really neat. No sound involved.
