Even with all the steel gears and bearings, it's still way lighter than the dual belt drive, and a lot more compact...and takes nowhere near the input to turn it...

That's what I thought would be the case!Ive been a believer for quite awhile .Looks like you should run ultra light oil and not very much so not to waste power on oil friction.

Agreed, this is where the Diamond Lube comes into play. Lowest frictional numbers ever recorded.

Btw, Troy sent me some new grip pins for my Triabolo. Guys, they were just amazing. So much better than the stockers. Thanks Troy!

If you just want lube , use the motorcycle chain sticky lube . It's sealed and won't ever leave the gears

Now that's just art!

How much does it weigh? Do you have expected power handing numbers?

Right now it weighs 290 grams with the end cap to mount the motor..alot of Jenny Craiging still left to do...but still less than the belted primary reduction unit and main pulley setup on my 600 I made..

I have no earthly idea how much power it'll handle...way more than I'll ever be able to throw at it I imagine...

Here's a picture of my latest speed quad (frame weight 265g), just a bit lighter then your gear box.

I wonder if you could make one of these with plastic gears to lower production costs?

I would think it possible, there is plenty of tooth engagement. Making some of the gears from nylon would also remove or reduce the need to lubricate.

The biggest expense are the ring gears...never seen those in plastic or nylon? Plus being all steel this thing is damn near bullet proof..... *eventually* it'll be in a heli swinging 1200mm blades...Just time consuming making it all..I made a new outer casing over the weekend...needed another 5mm in length to accommodate the end cap for the output end.

Yup! Been busy with some home improvement projects, but I'm hoping things will lighten up in the not so distant future so I can get back into the heli game.

How's the big job coming?
