It was a with a Neu motor +GB and a Saw prop with my D05, but it was too hot for F5D competition so I moved on. It was also level flight, no diving from 400m and turning 180deg every 2.5 seconds. But an F5D model is much smaller and lighter than Scorpian-fan's speed models which require more thrust (and power) to get closer to pitch speed.
I have tried offical F3S speed runs (all 4 gates) with my F5D models, and I can say that it's not easy at all! The model literally disappears as you transition from diving to level flight with the model over 200m away. Much better to use the bigger models or fly without the big dive. |

Hey guys got a question about motor wires on these high amp applications
My motor wires are really long due to the fact I had to put the ESC back under the wing (balance issues) what size should they be in relation to the size of the wires coming out of the motor? Also CAPS...should I add caps to the setup since I am pushing it a "tad" beyond the limits?Got the NEU back last night Will be installing everything back into the plane today and might get a flight in tonight just before dark with the 7x10.

its almost impossible to compare in flight data with different models.
and its also impossible, to get useable teststand-data with an light and weak f5d prop. this is a 2 blade 12 x 24 for f3s (50mm root distance), tested up to 12kW and a 12 x 24 for f5d (30mm root distance) for the "normal" f5d load. ![]() this 3 blade system was able to reach 414km/h between the gates. ![]() it also was able to get a 320km/h average with "power on" in horizontal flight at the "flight in" gate. the max. diving speed of eagle I found with about 270km/h. here I assume, it was about 250km/h max. so you can calculate the reached acceleration. if inflight speed is 250km/h and average speed is 320km/h the speed at outflight gate could have been about 390km/h. I develop my models not primary to get max speed - I'am >50years old and I'am a much bader pilot with bader eyes compared to our "young wilds". so I try to find a way, to be fast with my personal possibilities. this means for me good acceleration, high power and powerduration (actual drive can take 270A for 20 sek on teststand without burning) and very silent drive system - so I can fly directbehind our little cottage. a good example: with chimera I reached 380km/h max. my friend kai was 460km/h fast in his second flight through the gates...... now think, what could be possible for him with my eagle.
