Hangar 9 Pipercub 40
Iv been looking at the 40 size cub from Hangar 9 and iv always liked the look of it and it seems to fly well. Iv got an O.S. 46ax motor and was wandering if anybody else is using this setup on one and what kind of performance they had. For some reason it seems kinda small for this plane and something along a .50 size glow motor would be about perfect for mild aerobatics ( loops and rolls etc...) I like having a little extra power in case of emergencies and the 46 seems like it would have to be flown wide open to fly with mild aerobatics. I have read some posts but could find a specific thread on this plane.Any thought or ideas on the power setup?????

The PnP version has an evolution .46 in it and everyone seems to like that combo. Mine had a Magnum .91 FS in it, and I think a 46 would be better. It is definataly possible to overpower a cub.

If you plan on flying scale.... use the wing.. not the prop...

I had lots of fun flying one with a Saito .56 4-stroke. I tried a Saito .72 for a while and didn't like it as much. Decided the .56 was perfect. The .46 2-stroke should be fine, but I just love the 4-stroke sound!

Thanks for the tips guys. I picked up a OS 46fx this weekend at a swap meet. I'm gonna run that with a master airscrew 11x7.

I have the Hangar 9 Piper cub 40 with an Evolution .46 in it. Plenty powerful! She has a takeoff roll of about 30 ft!
