I think you could make it work. I would say a 40-50 amp esc and a 2000-2500mah 2s1p lipo will do the trick.

I'm old school and believe the two motors would eventually get out of sync with one ESC. Since many Chinese ESC's are great and cheap enough, I would do 2 ESC's, one battery! Easy to hook up the ESC's to one battery and one receiver. JMO

OK, now for the next question: has anyone run into a 40mm vectored thrust unit? FreeWing makes a 60mm unit that is simple, light and relativly well built, but I can't find a smaller one.

I've never seen one. You could probably make your own simple thrust vectoring system though.

I tryed to add TV to my SR-71 black bird the vector nozzles I bought fit perfect.problem was with the nozzles added servos & various parts The plane was way to heavy and didn't fly.I could of maybe spent a fortune on bigger more powerful motor an all the rest of the power system.I didnt want to spend the money so I scraped the Idea And took it all off back to stock.

I’m not new to building indoor planes, but I am new to edf's only having flown the umx mig aside from simulators.
I want to eventually build an indoor f-14, for flying in a football field. With full wing sweep.
Most of my airframes are around 3 to 4 oz with a 24 in wing before electrics, (mentioned for an idea of how heavy I build my planes).
But what size edf would be needed for that, my guess is a 40 mm fan for a 30 in wing span weighing 13 to 15 oz all up weight. But really I have no clue.
Has this been dun?
Or is this too heavy a design to be plausible.
