[RCSE] Polk Radio- Simple REFRESHING
Hello!
Let me step in here. I got this radio for about the month. I spot it on WRAM Show. I liked the feel of slightly wider Tx box , but what struck me the most was minimal amount of electronic parts inside the Tx ( box was open). I was not able to check all of the programming but for simple model it seemed OK.I left the CC# and got the radio 8 weeks later Programming: it reminds me Vision 8P programming ( pattern version) but not the full copy of it There is V-tail or flaperon , or elevons .... never two of them at the same time You can do only 3 servo ( one flap channel) wing and single position crow ( ailerons up or ail down) There is 3 independent 2 way ( master->slave , slave->master) mixers Timer: 60 minutes countdown Trims: there is an adjustable trim rate 100% = 15% of the stick throw trims are mechanical with beep in the center ( in my opinion the best set up of all. I have never liked soft trimmers because without observing screen you were never able to tell where you are . On mechanical trimmers your fingers were able to tell you if you off a little, 1/2 of full throw off) Switches: You can dedicate switches ( 6 switches) to do the trick ( mixing, dual rate, landing set up) like in the MPX 4000. All switches are two position. Scanner: no matter what somebody would say this thing works I checked with 4 of my other Tx ( 2 X Vision . MPX 4000 , 8103) on different channels.I had all 4 antennas collapsed to one section and walk out of my house. You can go 2 blocks away and that thing still senses working channels. What is more important Tx senses its own channel before it gets on transmitting mode. If the channel is occupied it beeps and won't go on transmitting mode Nice feature. How many models would be saved by this gadget. Performance: Awesome!!!!!!!! Rock solid glitch free with collapsed or extended antenna. I have never seen such calm behavior of servos as with this Tx Rx combination With my four different Tx and about 20 receiver there is always chance to generate some glitches when Tx is very close, but not in this case.Servo do some noise , but they don't move Compatibility: TRACKER II Rx now works with all my FM receivers in the house.I do have them all with positive shift, but TRACKER has a shift selection switch Again Glitch free , high resolution (1024on each channel- this is noticeable) crisp performance with most lousy servos in the house. SEEKER II receiver works perfectly with all my Transmitters in the house on any channel Again almost glitch free. The only downgrade is you need change some channel plugs for different Tx ( You got dedicated channels to do function on Vision Rx and different on SEEKER) On MPX you can dedicate channels Producer of SEEKER climes that it adheres to any type of FM Tx in narrowest possible setting of +/- 5ppm. Only professionals would say what does it means in reality. Polks representatives promising extensive work to make fully programmable Tx soon. maybe we will be able to send Tx to download additional software for gliders for small fee Give them a call . They look for suggestion Mine suggestion is : If we would be able to switch model setting memories during the flight like has that Vision ( 2 (S&L) settings) or MPX 3030 ( unlimited) we could create flight modes and pull way more out of this interesting Tx as is. mike I got some good pictures of the Tx and Rx with servos ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tom Broeski" <tjb@adesigner.com> To: "soaring" <soaring@airage.com> Sent: Friday, May 23, 2003 3:13 PM Subject: Re: [RCSE] Polk Radio > Other than the numeric vs text, how would you judge it vs the Stylus (which > > I have)?Dave Seay > > > Not even close. > It is more like the 8000 > Stylus is in a league of its own. > There are none of the special mixers and Cmix and camber slider on side, > etc. > > It would be a great RES, Slope radio and simple open class radio. > T > > T&G http://adesigner.com > 32 Mount View Dr > Afton, VA 22920 > phone 540 943-3356 > fax 540 943-4178 > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Dave Seay" <docdata757@mustangone.com> > To: "Tom Broeski" <tjb@adesigner.com> > Sent: Friday, May 23, 2003 7:49 PM > Subject: Re: [RCSE] Polk Radio > > > > Other than the numeric vs text, how would you judge it vs the Stylus > (which > > I have)? > > > > Dave > > > > ----- Original Message ----- > > From: "Tom Broeski" <tjb@adesigner.com> > > To: "Dave Seay" <docdata757@mustangone.com> > > Cc: "soaring" <soaring@airage.com> > > Sent: Friday, May 23, 2003 1:25 PM > > Subject: Re: [RCSE] Polk Radio > > > > > > > The only drawback is the 99 model memory is numeric only.
